Programs

PNDA has various legacy programs that we utilize to achieve our mission.

FILIPINO AMERICAN YOUTH LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (FAYLC)

FAYLC is a two day, one night leadership conference for high school students. College students and young professionals in the role of mentors facilitate an open and safe space where the youth participants can talk about their identity, culture and other Filipino/Filipino-American experiences.

YOUNG LEADERS COMMITTEE

Time Commitment: One 2hr meeting per week starting in May until August.

These meetings utilize the youth development framework, with check-ins, group agreements and rotating co-facilitators, giving young people (high school and college-aged) hands-on opportunities to learn how to: facilitate meetings, communicate with peers/elders and other skills such as, public speaking, organizing, project planning and relationship building.  The main goal for the committee is to co-coordinate and plan FAYLC.

OUTSTANDING FILIPINO AMERICAN YOUTH AWARDS (OFYA)

A scholarship program used to acknowledge young people who demonstrate leadership skills in the greater community and also those who demonstrated leadership as part of our programs.  We also organize an awards night to introduce and celebrate these award-winners with the greater community.


FILIPINO AMERICAN MENTORING (FAM) PROGRAM

Time Commitment: Two-three hour quarterly meetings with mentors and family members. Individual checking in with family at least once every two weeks either in person or online.

An ongoing multi-generational mentoring program where we pair up a PNDA volunteers with a college-aged young adult and high school aged youth. The pairings are based on career interests and/or similar hobbies. Activities include career-based activities, career exposure/exploration activities, mental health awareness workshops and Filipino cultural value workshops.


FILIPINO YOUTH POP-UPS

In partnership with Filipino Community of Sacramento and Vicinity (FCSV)

Time Commitment: One hour meeting per week for planning and a three hour monthly event.

Started in early 2025 by young leaders in Sacramento, the purpose of the pop-ups is to create a safe space for young people to check-in with each other, build community and learn about resources and programs in the community.
